Sometimes you just can’t fight the sweet tooth. No matter how hard you try to ignore it, there are just times where you need something sweet, even if you’re stuffed to the max, the sweet tooth persists.
Unfortunately, that scenario hits me quite often. Every once in awhile, I could find a few stray pieces of candy lying around the house, but when you’re determined to eat “healthy” (or at least healthier), your desert options are limited.
Well I’ve got some good news! I’ve found the something that satisfies the sweet tooth AND doesn’t derail your healthy eating habits: Banana Ice Cream! And to make it even sweeter (pun intended), it’s quick & easy to make, and only requires 3 ingredients:
This recipe does, however, require a little bit of planning. You’ll need frozen bananas to create the base of the dish, so chop up a few bananas, toss them into some Tupperware and stick them in the freezer over night.
Add 1 frozen banana, 1/8 cup milk (or almond milk) and about 1 tbs of peanut butter into a blender or food processor.
Blend ingredients until creamy (like ice cream, duh) and serve!
Another thing that makes this dessert a great go-to is that measuring is minimal. Continue to add each of the ingredients until your ice cream is the texture you prefer.
One of the greatest things about this recipe, is that you can add almost anything to make it the perfect treat for you! You can add flavorings to mix in, or top your ice cream with. Try topping your dessert with chocolate chips, or fruits, shaved nuts or coconut shavings. Maybe add in some vanilla or cinnamon, honey or pumpkin spice for fun and different flavors.
This ice cream is perfect for those time when you just need to feed the sweet tooth beast… and you don’t have to feel guilty for eating it either!
(1 banana, 1/8 almond milk, 1 tbs PB makes about 1 cup)
