In case you’re new around here, there’s something you should know about me:
I LOVE BIRTHDAYS.
I just do 💁♀️
I’m always looking for an excuse to celebrate and make the everyday feel just a little more special, especially when it’s someone’s birthday!
And this week, I’m celebrating a VERY special birthday!! No, not mine (I celebrate that with a birthmonth). Today is my husband, Matt’s birthday!
I don’t think that words can truly express the gratitude I have for Matt. He has always been my number one supporter, and in this recent season of grief, he’s stepped up for me in every way imaginable. I am beyond grateful for all that he does for me, our family, and even strangers on the street.
He’s truly one-of-a-kind, and I’m lucky to call him mine!
So in honor of his birthday, I’m sharing five ways to celebrate and appreciate your partner whether it’s their birthday or any other day.
AND, I’m re-sharing all of the Birthing Bestie Blogs where he makes his appearance in his monthly segment, “Partner Perspective”.
Five Ways to Celebrate & Appreciate Your Partner
1. Tell them!
This may sound pretty obvious, but it’s pretty easy to get wrapped up in our day-to-day tasks without actually stopping to say a simple “thank you” for all the little things that your partner does throughout their days to help and support you.
2. Learn their love language
Whether they feel most loved by spending quality time, receiving compliments, or acts of service– whatever their love language is– learn it, and use it! What better way to show appreciation for your partner than by doing what makes them feel most loved in the way that love most?!
3. Take the lead
If there’s a task or chore that is typically something your partner tackles, consider taking it off their plate every once in awhile. Whether it’s putting the laundry away or arranging childcare for your night out, preemptively take the lead and lighten your partner’s load!
4. Write a thank you card
It’s not always easy to verbalize your appreciation for someone, so consider writing your partner a little love note instead. It doesn’t have to be super lengthy or filled with your deepest feelings– even a little letter goes a long way!
5. Plan an adventure
Sometimes stepping out of the ordinary can feel so refreshing! Whether it’s dinner at a new spot, a night out, or a weekend away, plan something fun and different!
